1000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton has been refused skin removal surgery. The procedure is something she’s been working hard to get approval for, including dropping down to 281lbs.
Amy and Tammy Slaton have shared their weight loss journey with fans since 2020. The 1000-lb Sisters both lost enough weight to be approved for bariatric surgery and now want to undergo skin removal.
Tammy Slaton refused skin removal surgery
Tammy Slaton has been refused skin removal surgery. A preview for the November 19 episode of 1000-lb Sisters shows a doctor telling the TLC star it would be too close to her weight loss procedure.
He shares the heartbreaking news that it’s too early for Slaton to be eligible “because she’s only about 13 or 14 months out from her weight loss surgery,” Dr. Brad Turner said.
“At this point, she should probably continue to lose weight over the next six months to a year, get to her goal weight and then we can reapproach the topic with her,” he added.
“I’m gonna let Dr. Smith’s work keep on doing its job, OK?” Dr. Turner told a disappointed Slaton, who once weighed over 700lbs. “I’m definitely not telling you, ‘No.’ I’m just telling you, ‘Not tomorrow.’”
1000-lb Sisters star now weighs 281lbs
Tammy weighed in at 303lbs on the scale, ahead of her hopes for skin removal surgery. But that wasn’t enough for Slaton, as she’s continued to drop the pounds, and is now down to 281.2lbs.
“Chris said he weighs 284,” Tammy said in a November 13 video shared to TLC’s Instagram. “I now weigh a little less than Chris. That’s mind blowing,” adding that it’s been a while since she was this small.
“The last time I weighed 281, I was like fourth or fifth grade,” she continued. “I’m the baby sister but I’m not the big baby sister no more.” Her brother Chris agreed and said her success makes him “ecstatic”.
He said: “Did I ever think I’d see the day that she was smaller than me? Well, no, probably not, because I never thought about her ever being smaller than me. She’s always been Tammy. Big.”
