Abuja Driver and Woman Were Assaulted by Army Officers, Held for 8 Hours

An Abuja driver and a lady, were, on Tuesday, subjected to brutal assault by officers of the Nigeria Army in Abuja.

As seen in a now viral video on X, two officers approached the driver, identified as Vershima Mker, for allegedly bashing the car of their General.

Despite Vershima’s plea, the military officers resorted to physical assault on the driver, with one visibly seen hitting him with an unidentified object.

He was dragged out of the car and taken to the said General.

Meanwhile, the lady, identified as Lami Jennifer, was challenged by one of the officers for recording the incident.

She would also be assaulted as the office demanded for her phone.

Meanwhile, a statement from the driver’s legal counsel further disclosed that the Army General, identified as G.S Musa and his details handcuffed the driver and the lady.

They were allegedly pushed into the boot of one of his convoys and whisked to Gwarimpa Police station where the General ordered that they should be detained until he would give words for their release.

After eight hours in detention, the senior military officer came back, compelling the assaulted driver to write an apology to him.

“The brutal army general and his details handcuffed our clients, pushed them into the boot of one of their vehicles and took them to the Gwarnpa Police Station where the Army General ordered our clients to be detained until he would give word for their release.

“And true to his word, our clients were detained for 8 hours until General G.S. Musa personally came to the Police Station with armed soldiers and compelled our clients to write an apology to him under duress before they were released.

Meanwhile, our clients have suffered severe bodily injuries and psychological damage.

“Our Vershima Mker is severely wounded on his ribs as well as his eye which is now requiring foreign treatment. Miss. Lami Jennifer lorvihi has a fractured finger and is still undergoing treatment.

The actions of your officers and soldiers constitute gross violation of our clients’ constitutional rights as much as they are criminal.

“Our clients are undergoing psychological trauma, bodily harm and loss of time to organize their marriage ceremony. We attach herewith for your perusal, photos and videos of the torture.” the statement read.
