Katy Perry ‘scrambling to get back on American Idol’ unlikely as fans beg for more tour dates

Katy Perry leaving her judging spot on American Idol had many fans heartbroken this year. The Firework singer spent seven seasons as a judge appearing alongside Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and host Ryan Seacrest.

Since Katy Perry left her position on American Idol, fans of the show speculated big time about who would be best to replace her. Carrie Underwood was confirmed to be taking the singer’s spot back in August. But now, Katy is reportedly “scrambling to get back on the show” as her new album “flops.”

Katy hopped off the American Idol judging panel and jumped right into her new album this year.

But, according to a Life and Style insider, the singer is now “scrambling to get back on” the TV show.

The report suggests Katy’s album has “tanked,” and she’s left wanting the “steady security” of her old job.

“Now that her album has flopped, she’s scrambling to reclaim her spot at the judges’ table. It’s a clear sign even she knows her days as a chart topping artist are behind her. But Carrie’s got the gig now — and unless the new season is a ratings disaster, there’s no way Katy is getting back in that chair,” says the insider.

Katy’s fans beg for tour dates

Although the insider claims Katy’s album is a “flop,” the California Girls singer’s Instagram comments section begs to differ.

Katy has many fans taking to her social media page to say they really want her to add more dates to her tour in “Europe,” and the “US.”

The former American Idol judge also writes how she’s taken aback by how well her tour is doing:

“My mind is absolutely blownnnn at your response to THE LIFETIMES TOUR. Just found out we’re already over 125k+ tickets sold and we’ve only announced Australia dates so far… WOW I LOVE YOU FOR LIFE & I can’t wait to dance with all of you in 2025,” she pens.

Some people appear to have no issue in airing their thoughts on the 39-year-old’s new music.

One writes: “It sucks,” while another comments: “…it’s a flop…” however, it appears the majority are here for Katy’s new music, telling her it’s “…awesome.”

The songstress also took to the ‘gram on October 3 to share more dates had been added to the Australian leg of her tour.
