At 57 years old, Tamra Judge explains how she’s just started “therapy” this fall. The Real Housewives star opens up during her Two Ts in A Pod podcast and reveals she’s been diagnosed as “being on the spectrum.” Speaking to her co-host Teddi Mellencamp, Tamra gets emotional and says: “Don’t make me cry.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County has been running for 18 years and Tamra Judge is one of the show’s long-standing cast members. She joined the show in season 3. Fans have seen Tamra go through all kinds of ups and downs in life including divorcing her ex, Simon Barney, and fall-outs with many of her co-stars.
Tamra Judge shares diagnosis she’s ‘on the spectrum’
RHOC star Tamra is being super vulnerable this October. During Two Ts in A Pod’s October 15 episode, she tells Teddi she “just had her first therapy session” and adds: “I found out something pretty big about myself that I didn’t know.”
Teddi asks “what,” explaining how she “needs to know,” what it is Tamra “found out.”
The 57-year-old opens up: “I am on the spectrum… Don’t make me cry.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County star goes on to explain more about her diagnosis as Teddi asks: “What does that mean going forward?”
Tamra says through tears: “We’re trying to work through that… I have a really hard time processing stuff. I have a lot of sensory issues, sound, light, touch, but she says that’s not my biggest problem.”
“My biggest problem is working through trauma. Trauma that I had in my life,” she continues.
The Bravo star says she “grew up in a family without a lot of empathy or love” and says as an adult she “has a hard time with empathy and feeling other people’s feelings”
She previously attributed this to her upbringing, but now says it’s related to her diagnosis.
After revealing her diagnosis to Teddi and her listeners, she says: “I haven’t even talked to Eddie.”
RHOC star is dealing with ‘social anxiety’
Revealing some of the details to come out of her therapy session, Tamra says she has “social anxiety” and often feels she just “wants to be at home.”
She says: “How I make it through the show is drinking… I’ll drink. And then, all these suppressed sh** that’s going on within me comes out when I drink because my guard is down.”
The reality TV star says she’s “learned so much stuff” from therapy.
As the two’s conversation develops, Tamra goes on to say more about her “anxiety” and “intrusive thoughts.”
She bursts into tears and explains to Teddi: “I have scenarios played out in my head daily and it’s always about death and it’s always people around me dying…”
“This is why I’ve never gone to therapy… I don’t want to have any feelings… that’s how I protect myself,” Tamra adds.
