When Mary Cosby joined RHOSLC and decided to let the cameras in on her life, she may never have predicted the impact she and her family’s story would have on people. This year, the reality TV star has many of us not only in floods of tears over a scene featuring herself and her son, Robert Jr, but some deeply impacted.
When speaking during the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City After Show, Mary explained how she hoped sharing her son’s substance abuse issues with the world would help people. By the looks of social media, the scene is one that’ll go down in Bravo history. Now, she’s sharing a positive, yet somewhat confusing, update with everyone.
Mary Cosby gives an update on Robert Jr
Anyone who watched Mary and Robert Jr’s heart-to-heart on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City this season will remember how moving the moment was.
The two broke down in tears as they discussed mental health, substance abuse issues, and shared how their relationship had actually kept Robert Jr alive.
Appearing on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen early this December, Mary shared how her son was “doing well.”
Later this month, she gave more of an update via Bravo and said how Robert Jr is out of rehab and is now “doing good.”
Robert Jr is making his mom “proud” and she shares how she’s putting some new boundaries in place during his recovery.
She explains how “trust needs to earned back,” adding how she “…still doesn’t give him money.”
Mary says on the RHOSLC Aftershow: “I don’t want him to be around the people he was around prior, and he still kind of goes around them which is unhealthy and it just kind of scares me. Because I know that’s just like a spirit. And if you don’t get away from it, it’ll catch you and bond you up.”
She also said: “I let him learn through his mistakes,” adding how her son is keen to get a job soon.
Mary adds some confusing wedding info
Not only does Mary get RHOSLC lovers up to speed with how Robert Jr is doing in his recovery process, but she’s talking about his personal relationship, too.
Mary explains how Robert Jr has now gone to live with his father, Robert Sr, in Las Vegas for the time being.
And when it comes to whether her son is married or not, Mary says it’s unlikely.
Both Robert Jr and his partner, Alexiana Cosby, went to rehab. They’re both seen living at the star’s Utah home during the RHOSLC scene where Robert Jr and Mary break down.
Since coming out of rehab, Mary tells Bravo of her son: “Now he’s saying he doesn’t think they’re married… There’s a certificate that you have to fill out once you get married, and you have to submit it and send it. And you have to sign it within 30 days. If you don’t sign it, you’re not married. Your marriage is, like, not existing. And so I called everywhere looking for it, and he’s nowhere in the city county building as married. There’s no marriage on them two.”
The mom is “praying” he isn’t married, and adds how she may have to hire someone to open his private safe as he’s unable to.
