Jason ‘Sundance’ Head ‘airlifted to hospital’
Prayers and well wishes are pouring in for The Voice season 11 winner Sundance Head this November.
The 46-year-old’s partner, Misty, takes to Facebook to share how the singer sustained a serious injury.
She explains: “Sundance has been life-flighted with a gunshot wound to his stomach per the paramedics who called me.”
He accidentally shot himself in the abdomen while out hunting on his Texas ranch, writes his partner.
The Voice winner didn’t require surgery following the incident. Misty explains: “Doctor just called me bullet went in above his navel and lodged into his abdominal wall missing all vital organs. He will not require surgery as they are not removing the bullet.”
She writes: “It was not his hunting rifle and no nobody shot him. He was out of the vehicle reaching in to grab his 22 when he grabbed it the 22 came out of its holster and hit the exterior of the Jeep just right and went off.”
However, Misty adds: “Now this is what he has told me … he is heavily medicated at the moment.”
She thanks all Sundance’s fans for their support and writes of seeing him in hospital hours on from the ordeal: “Prayers answered as no internal damage was done by the bullet.”
‘Any higher or lower would have been devastating’
In another update, Misty explains the severity of Sundance’s injury.
She says how “grateful” she is for the “messages, calls, and prayers,” from people following the singer’s incident.
Misty explains how Sundance was well enough to be released from the hospital, and shows a photograph of his T-shirt so people “can see how lucky he was.”
“Any higher or lower would have been devastating,” she adds.
Sundance’s partner continues: “He’s definitely going to have a lot to say and once he feels up to it I’ll have him do a video in his own words.”
She adds how “he was bleeding badly through his dressings,” on the way home from the hospital but is on the mend.
Country singer Sundance won The Voice season 11 back in 2016. He was on Team Blake Shelton and won with the song Darlin’ Don’t Go.
Sundance was no stranger to reality TV when he appeared on The Voice. He’d previously taken part in American Idol around ten years prior but was eliminated in the season 6 semi finals.
